Proteome Bioinformatics Expert

for the analysis of mass spectrometry based proteomics data as well as the support of the FGCZ user community. The expert will contribute to the centers research project and deal with all aspects of proteomics data. As a member of the FGCZ proteomics and bioinformatics team he will have back office as well as user desk tasks. Existing data analysis workflows shall be maintained.

The ideal candidate has an extensive background in bioinformatics and an academic degree in any of the relevant areas including computer science, statistics and biology. Candidates with a PhD and publications are welcome to apply. Familiarity with the management and analysis of large-scale proteomics datasets will be considered an advantage.

In particular, experience with proteomics data or other functional genomics data will be a plus. Basic skills with the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating system are essential.Furthermore, practical knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language (C++, C#, Java, Perl, Python) is mandatory. Experience in R/Bioconductor and/or web programming will be considered an advantage.

The ability to work independently is a prerequisite, as is the ability to effectively interact with the research and technical staff of the center and of external research groups in a team-oriented manner. Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center. Knowledge of German is helpful.
